Even the people only investing in European government-bonds have to keep track of the indebtedness of the U.S., high commodity prices, and the Chinese property market."

Chris has over 20 years HRD experience with the last 12 years in senior International Director roles. He holds a degree in Environmental Sciences from Sheffield (UK) and is a certified HR practitioner (GPHR) with Society for Human Resource Management. Chris was a Global Advisory Board member for SHRM from 2004 to 2006.
He is a current Judge for the UK’s HR Excellence Awards. Chris is British and currently lives in Dusseldorf, Germany. His early career was with ICL (Fujitsu) where he held several HR roles including: Resourcing, Training & Development, Compensation & Benefits, HR projects and HR Operations. He was involved in the consortium that launched the UK’s national lottery (Camelot), he helped ICL become the first IT Company to gain the “Investors in People” accreditation, and their Manufacturing and Logistics Division achieve a European Quality Award prize in ’93 and winners in ’94. Chris has a very impressive record: in increasing revenue/pbt per employee (20%+), reducing employee attrition (c. 8% p.a.), decreasing costs per hire (by average 75%), improving time to recruit cycle times (halving), managing volume resourcing (800 hires in 2005), increasing/improving Employee Engagement metrics (c. 20% positive swing) and for successfully managing International M&A activities (7 so far).
He joined Intermec Inc. in early 2006 as HRD EMEA and India, having spent 7 years as HRD International with SAS; one of the world largest privately owned Software Companies.

GERMANY IMMIGRATION UPDATE... recent developments and upcoming changes to corporate migration law in Germany
Uta Behrens and Andreas Wiesmann from Fragomen LLP will give an introduction to the German corporate immigration systems and processes. They will then focus on the expected changes in German corporate migration law with the upcoming implementation of the Blue Card in Germany.
There are several other upcoming rules which will impact on hiring talents from abroad in the future. By illustrating the key points for the hiring process from an immigration perspective, the conference delegates will increase their awareness for possible red flags with regard to hiring foreign nationals.

Prior to joining Fragomen, Uta Behrens studied law in Germany. On completion, she went to Leipzig and worked at a law firm specializing in Commercial law. There she developed the labour law department. After two and a half years, she went to a German logistics company and developed the legal department during the following seven years as the company was growing to a pan European group with local companies in 17 European countries. She has worked with Human Resources managers and senior managers in private practice specializing in labour and employment law. She has developed strong connections through the HR Community in Germany. She is admitted to the bar Oberlandesgericht Frankfurt am Main and she studied at Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen, State Examination.
Andreas Wiesmann is an attorney-at-law (Rechtsanwalt) in the Frankfurt office where he practices exclusively in the field of German and European immigration law and German nationality law. He advises individuals as well as multinational clients across different industries on all aspects of their corporate immigration needs. Prior to joining Fragomen in 2011, Andreas studied law in Germany and worked at a law firm focused on social law. Permits Foundation is an international non-profit corporate initiative to promote access of accompanying spouses and partners of international staff to employment through an improvement of work permit regulations.
More than forty major international companies and organisations worldwide have joined the Permits Foundation to encourage governments to relax work permit regulations that currently make it difficult for spouses to work in many countries.
The issue is a concern to international companies and organisations which, in view of the increasing number of dual careers, experience work permit barriers as a hurdle to employee diversity and mobility.
Permits Foundation has already been successful in influencing and contributing to change in France, The Netherlands and the USA. It is currently promoting improvements in other countries in Europe, for example in Germany and at the European Union. It has also started to develop networks in Asia and is working to raise awareness of this issue worldwide. The foundation corresponds with government ministries and agencies directly and/or through local networks of employer organisations and other interested bodies.
Governments are increasingly recognising the importance of dual careers in making their country an attractive business destination supporting trade and investment.
These successes are based on Permits Foundation's initiative to:
Make representations to host governments to liberalise business-related work permit legislation to allow accompanying expatriate spouses to participate freely in local employment markets
Seek and co-ordinate support from national governments and international organizations with an interest in international investment, mobility, equal opportunity and diversity
Share best practices and news of governmental progress
Raise awareness in conferences and seminars
Encourage debate by preparing briefing materials for selected media.
In this way, Permits Foundation continues to help spouses of all nationalities to maintain and develop skills during expatriation and facilitates re-integration to their home country.

Dr. FRITZ AUDEBERT is CEO and founder of the ICUnet.AG.
Dr. Audebert trained as a wholesale and export merchant, studied Economic Management at the Hof University of Applied Sciences and after graduating he worked as an office manager in two Bavarian forestry commissions. Following an extended stay abroad as a project manager in Ecuador, Colombia, Peru and Brazil, where he was inspired by the intercultural differences, Dr. Audebert was one of the first to study Language, Economic and Cultural Studies at the University of Passau. He later spent almost two years working for a German company in Russia. After returning to the University of Passau as assistant to the Deputy Vice Chancellor, he founded what is now the largest alumni association for a single study programme and was coordinator of the Language, Economic and cultural studies course. After gaining a PhD on the subject of “The time factor in international television advertising” he founded ICUnet.AG in 2001. The experiences he gathered during his many stays abroad and his awareness of the need for intercultural consultation and services give him the motivation to create the vision of an integrated intercultural company with his employees. Dr. Fritz Audebert speaks Russian, English, Spanish and Portuguese. The Cultural Management and Administration graduate is happily married to his wife Cäcilia and they have two sons and a daughter.

Impact of ageing on corporate and expat pensions
The world's population is ageing. In most countries, there are 4 people of working age for every pensioner currently. Ageing is expected to accelerate and in 2050, there will be just two people of working age for every person of pensionable age. Ageing puts pressure on government finances, but also on the companies that have to pay out pensions for a longer time and on the labour force that has to support the rising number of pensioners. In some regions, we are now facing a “war for talent”. In this session, demographic trends and the impact on pensions in general and expat pensions in particular will be discussed.

Rüdiger Blaich, based in Stuttgart, has 30 years of experience in employee benefits.
